The SIGGRAPH Perth committee is proud to announce the inclusion of the SIGGRAPH 2004 and 2005 Conference Presentations DVD sets into the SIGGRAPH Perth 2007 screening programme. Selected talks from both DVD sets will featured throughout the 2007 screening programme. These presentations are recorded at the SIGGRAPH International Conferences and have been kindly released to SIGGRAPH Chapters throughout the world to benefit all chapter members.

Abstract

In 1977, George Lucas's Star Wars opened our eyes and blasted our senses with brave new worlds, remarkable characters, and operatic battles. In the five films that followed, these images continued to make cinematic history, taking us places we never thought possible and blazing the trail for the visual effects and animation industry.
In this presentation, three ILM legends, Dennis Muren, John Knoll and Rob Coleman walk us through all six instalments in the series, comparing the techniques that ILM employed over the years to bring these historical environments, characters and space battles to the big screen.
This informative talk features rare "behind the scenes" video and imagery from the production of the Star Wars series. From puppets to cinematography, pre-vis to photo realistic digital characters, this rich material provides a unique perspective on the past, present and future of Cinema Visual Effects.

This event is an RSVP ONLY.
Admission is FREE for ACM SIGGRAPH Perth members.
Tickets available for non-members at the door for
$10 ($5 student concession).
Memberships will be available on the night.
This event is CASH ONLY.
Doors open at 6:15 PM and the screening will start at 6:30 sharp.
The program runs for approximately 2 hours 15 minutes.
Directions to the Venue

Enter through the main doors on the corner of Royal St and Fielder St. Follow the signs from the reception desk up the stairs to your right and into the next building to the Theatrette. Parking is available on the street and at the rear of the building. Claisebrook train station is a short walk away. Bicycle parking is available at the rear of the building.
