Industrial Light & Magic Animation Supervisor Scott Benza has joined the speaker line-up for the 2007 Digital Media Festival, where he will demonstrate how 10 metre-tall robots were brought to life in this year's blockbuster film Transformers, which required some of the most complex modeling and animation ever attempted at ILM. As a Lead Animator at Industrial Light & Magic, Benza is responsible for many aspects of the development of a CG character, as well as providing creative and technical direction to animators. Some of his most notable projects have included animation and simulation work for the Rock Monster in Galaxy Quest and development work done for crash/destruction simulations for Pearl Harbor. Benza will join Evan Jacobs, VFX Supervisor of the forthcoming Resident Evil, and Maya Master Steven Stahlberg on the program for the Australian Effects & Animation Festival (AEAF).
