Writing / Reading / Playing / Living the Story of the Futureat The Age Melbourne Writers' Festival
The Literature Board of the Australia Council for the Arts and the Laboratory of Advanced Media Production (LAMP) invite you to spend an afternoon inside the Story of the Future.
Join acclaimed scriptwriter Simon Hopkinson; award-winning author Bernard Cohen; new media producer, designer and LAMP Director Gary Hayes; writer, producer and AFTRS lecturer Jackie Turnure, and the Physical TV Company collaborative team of award-winning multi-modal artists Richard James Allen and Karen Pearlman for an interactive exploration of new media writing and cross art-form collaboration techniques, ranging from collage writing and online role playing to building spiritual spaces in Second Life. Through presentations, Q&A sessions and audience activities the panel will discuss their experiences of writing for new media environments and will invite you to explore the Story of the Future. They will challenge notions that collaborative writing and user generated content remove authorship from writing to reveal how writers and producers can provoke a new narrative where words become worlds and readers become players and collaborators. Date: 30 August 2007 Time: 1.30pm - 5.30pm Venue: Australian Centre for the Moving Image, Federation Square, Melbourne This is a free event in the Workshop Program of the Age Melbourne Writers' Festival. Registration is essential and closes on 27 August
